You've already embraced wearing white after Labor Day, so why should everyone's favorite pink drink ever have to go into hibernation during the winter? Rosé sparkling wine has gone from summer crush to love at first sip in the US, with amazing bottles from wine regions from around the world. But while there may not be as many options of rosé bubbles as white they deserve their moment. I mean come on, brunch with a glass of sparkling rosé just hits different, with that punch of red berries as the bubbles settle and the creaminess flooding your palate, folding into aromas of strawberries…..Yummm!  That is why this month's Sip Society box is highlighting this beauty!

Let’s just debunk 2 myths about champagne rosé right now:

  1. They are more often dry than they are sweet
  2. They are as high in quality as other types of Champagne

So how does rosé get that perfect pink hue?

Rosé sparkling wine is both more complicated and expensive to make than regular cuvées. There are two popular processes used to make rosé champagne: The traditional method or The skin contact (maceration) method.

Traditional Method: Most Champagne houses follow the traditional method, its the easiest way to create the rosé. They simply add a small portion of red still wine, typically pinot noir, to the cuvée before the second fermentation.

Maceration: The more difficult method of creating rosé is the skin contact process. The skins of the black grapes are pressed slightly and left in contact with the juice to soak until the desired hue is achieved. This method is most difficult because it is extremely challenging to produce the exact same hue every time.

While both methods are used and some argue one is purer than the other, in most blind tasting no one is ever able to tell the difference in quality between the two methods.

Want to figure out which rosé you’ll love?

Did all that just make you thirsty? Still don’t know which is best for your palate? We have got you covered. The best way to find out is to drink and discover.
